Sebastian Vettel discusses possibility of replacing Helmut Marko at Red Bull

Jonathan Wheatley addresses rumors about Sebastian Vettel potentially replacing Dr. Helmut Marko as Red Bull motorsport advisor — a discussion that emerged ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix.

Marko, now 82 years old, has held the position since 2005 and played a crucial role in developing many Red Bull Racing and Racing Bulls drivers — including Vettel and Max Verstappen.

“There are still some conversations with Helmut, and we’re in communication about this topic. The talks aren’t yet that intensive or in-depth. It’s perhaps something that could play a role in the future. In what form, that remains to be seen,” Vettel explained.

“Trying to replace Helmut is quite a challenge. I can’t imagine how any one person could do that. Sebastian is a seriously impressive person, and while the conversations have been confirmed, I hope to see Helmut in that role for a much longer time,” Wheatley stated.

Vettel himself emphasized that Marko is irreplaceable — noting his unique character and significant contributions to the team’s success since 2005.
