Sebastian Vettel confirms he won’t return to Formula 1

Sebastian Vettel — four-time Formula 1 champion — has made a definitive statement that his F1 career is over, putting an end to various comeback speculations.

“Formula 1 is finished,” Vettel stated in an interview with Auto Motor und Sport.

His former rival Lewis Hamilton previously named Vettel as an ideal candidate for Mercedes — however, the German driver chose to maintain his retirement taken since late 2022.

Despite rumors of involvement with Red Bull — the team that brought him four world championship titles — Vettel instead showed interest in the World Endurance Championship (WEC).

“I don’t want to rule out that something will come of it. There have been talks, but it hasn’t worked out yet. The WEC with its eight races would actually be a good fit, with schedules different from Formula 1,” added Vettel.
