Grey Zabel Joins Seahawks as 18th Pick in the 2025 NFL Draft

Grey Zabel from North Dakota State has officially joined the Seattle Seahawks as the 18th pick in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, which took place in Green Bay, Wisconsin. This selection addresses the Seahawks’ immediate need in their interior offensive line, which ranked 25th in pass-blocking statistics last season.

Zabel’s Physical Qualities and Fit for Seahawks’ Scheme

Zabel possesses key physical attributes that align with coach Klint Kubiak‘s outside-zone rushing scheme, including a remarkable 36.5-inch vertical jump. His flexibility and versatility as a player are also evident from his college career, where he played multiple positions, including guard, tackle, and center at the Senior Bowl.

Reuniting with Former Teammate Jalen Sundell

In an interesting twist, Zabel will reunite with his former North Dakota State teammate, Jalen Sundell, who joined the Seahawks last year. Zabel is excited about the opportunity to have a familiar face in the locker room and city, saying:

“To have a familiar face in the locker room and in the city, it’s going to be awesome. I’ll lean on him heavily.”
