Scaloni Responds to Argentina Wonderkid’s Planned Move To Real Madrid

Argentina national team coach, Lionel Scaloni, has responded to the highly anticipated transfer of Franco Mastantuono to Real Madrid, as confirmed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The 17-year-old midfielder, dubbed Argentina’s next big talent, is expected to make the move from River Plate after the 2025 Club World Cup.

Real Madrid secure deal with €45 million clause

Real Madrid and River Plate have reached a full agreement for Mastantuono’s transfer. The Spanish giants will activate his €45 million release clause, which will be paid in structured installments.

The young starlet is set to sign a 6-year contract, keeping him at the Santiago Bernabéu until June 2031.

“We’re happy for Franco. It’s a big move, but he deserves it,” Scaloni said.
“He has a bright future, and we’ll support his development.”

Mastantuono tipped to follow Messi’s footsteps

Often compared to a young Lionel Messi for his vision and technical ability, Mastantuono has already made waves at club level and is considered a long-term investment by Madrid as they build for the future.

His move highlights Real Madrid’s strategy of securing world-class talent early, continuing their trend of developing South American stars like Vinícius Jr. and Rodrygo.
