Saudi Arabia suffered a heavy defeat against Australia with a score of 1-2 in the final match of Group C in the third round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers – Asia Zone at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium.

The squad coached by Herve Renard initially took the lead through a goal by Abdulrahman Alobud in the 19th minute. However, Australia managed to turn things around with goals from Connor Metcalfe and Mitchell Duke.

This result ensures Australia secures a direct ticket to the 2026 World Cup as Group C runner-up behind Japan — while Saudi Arabia must settle for third place and continue their fight in the fourth round alongside Indonesia’s national team.
