Satoru Mochizuki reveals reason for recruiting Akira Higashiyama to women’s national team

Approaching the 2026 Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers, Satoru Mochizuki announces the addition of Akira Higashiyama to Indonesia women’s national team coaching staff — a decision made following Higashiyama’s success with the U-19 squad.

The qualification tournament will take place at Indomilk Arena Stadium, Tangerang, from June 30 to July 5, 2025. Indonesia women’s team is drawn in Group D alongside:

• Chinese Taipei
• Kyrgyzstan
• Pakistan

Akira Higashiyama — who recently led Indonesia women’s U-19 team to third place in the 2025 ASEAN Cup by defeating Myanmar — will begin his duties when Indonesia faces Kyrgyzstan in the opening match at Indomilk Arena.
