Santino Ferrucci claims Road America podium in memory of Marlene Sexton

Santino Ferrucci achieved a remarkable third-place finish at the XPEL Grand Prix Road America — a special tribute to Marlene Sexton who passed away just days ago.

Starting from 18th position, the 27-year-old driver utilized precise pit stop strategy and tire management to move through the field. Three early safety car periods opened opportunities for A.J. Foyt Racing team to adjust their strategy.

“All I could think about to myself was ‘We’re doing this for Marlene,'” Ferrucci shared after the race.

The fuel-saving strategy in the closing stages proved successful — when Scott Dixon and Alexander Rossi needed to pit for fuel, Ferrucci advanced to third position. This result continues the team’s positive momentum with four consecutive top-five finishes since last month’s Indianapolis 500.

“This one goes to Marlene. She was riding with us today. I’m very proud. This one tastes a little bit sweeter,” added Ferrucci.
