Sandy Walsh misses three consecutive matches with Yokohama F Marinos

Naturalized Indonesian defender Sandy Walsh is currently facing a challenging situation — missing three consecutive matches with Yokohama F Marinos in the Japanese League.

The 30-year-old player decided to leave the Belgian League to join the Japanese elite club — which turned out to be experiencing difficult times in domestic competition.

Yokohama F Marinos — the 2022 J1 League champions and 2023 Asian Champions League runners-up — now finds themselves at the bottom of the standings after an unfortunate coaching change.

Steve Holland, who arrived with a reputation as former England national team assistant — had to leave his position last March after poor performance in the first 11 matches. Patrick Kisnorbo from Australia was then appointed as his replacement to improve the club’s situation.
