Sandy Walsh joins Yokohama F Marinos during club’s worst season

Sandy Walsh made a major decision by joining Yokohama F Marinos — a club experiencing its worst season in 32 years in the Japanese League.

The Indonesian national team right-back decided to leave the Belgian League after spending his career at several renowned clubs:

  • KRC Genk
  • Zulte Waregem
  • KV Mechelen

“I’m used to adapting and experiencing changes, and I’ve always wanted to go abroad,” said Walsh, who is now 30 years old.

“Very excited. The Japanese League has always been a major competition and I really want to play in the Japanese League,” he added.

Walsh’s decision to join the Japanese club was made last January — coinciding with the difficult period Yokohama F Marinos is experiencing in domestic competition.
