Yokohama F Marinos — traditionally a competitive club in J League, now finds themselves at the bottom of the table with only 18 points after 24 weeks of competition.

Sandy Walsh’s decision to join the club appears to be poorly timed — contrasting with two seasons ago when Yokohama was competing at the top and reached the Asian Champions League final.

The club has undergone three coaching changes this season:

• Steve Holland — former Gareth Southgate’s assistant, lasted only 11 matches
• Patrick Kisnorbo — managed for just two months
• Hideo Oshima — current head coach
