Sainz and Williams Face Technical Issues Ahead of British GP

Carlos Sainz faces a challenging situation ahead of the British GP — serious technical issues disrupted his performance at last week’s Austrian GP. The Williams driver couldn’t even start the race due to gearbox problems and brake fire.

His teammate, Alex Albon, suffered a similar fate — his car retired early due to unidentified technical issues. The Williams team is still investigating the cause of failures that only appear on race days.

“Obviously there’s a certain level of concern within the team about these consecutive reliability issues. We’ve had three issues in a row, including my brake problem and issues with Alex’s car,” Sainz told Motorsport.com.

The Grove-based team plans to conduct a series of tests during the first practice session of the British GP. Despite technical challenges, Sainz remains optimistic about the Williams car’s speed, which he believes can compete in the midfield.

“We need to understand why we’ve had so many DNFs. It’s a recurring issue. We have some tests to try to understand where it’s coming from. While it’s not totally solved yet, we’ve been working hard at the factory over the last two days,” Albon explained during the press conference.
