SaintDeLucaz Criticizes New Gen Esports Players in Indonesia

Team Liquid ID’s head coach, Doly “SaintDeLucaz” Sihotang, recently commented on changes in Indonesian esports athletes’ attitudes, especially in MLBB, noting a difference from his own era.

Following MPL ID Season 15, the champion coach praised MLBB’s rapid growth, highlighting its large audiences and hype. However, he also pointed out that many new players fall short of professional standards.

“The esports scene is getting better, but players are getting more spoiled. In any job, you have to maintain network. If you don’t have that, you need talent and hard work.”

His concerns reflect a common issue in Indonesia’s mobile gaming scene: many players rise too quickly, become satisfied after just one title, lose motivation, and eventually switch to streaming or content creation when they can no longer compete at a high level.

This contrasts sharply with Lucaz’s background, who was recognized as professional Dota 2 player with Boom Esports and RRQ from 2017 to 2019. Known as a dedicated offlaner who trained hard even during breaks, he helped his teams during international tournaments.
