Sacy Reveals He Turned Down Fnatic to Prove Himself

Former Brazilian Valorant player Gustavo “Sacy” Rossi, who previously competed for Sentinels, recently revealed he declined an offer from top-tier esports organization Fnatic several seasons ago.

In an interview on Revolta’s YouTube channel, the 27-year-old explained that he received the offer from Fnatic in 2022 while still playing for Brazilian team LOUD. Though the opportunity was tempting, Sacy chose to prioritize building his legacy through achievements rather than relying on an organization’s reputation.

He argued that joining a foreign team like Fnatic without first proving himself on the international stage would have backfired. Sacy feared entering a high-pressure environment without major titles could damage his credibility and performance, stating:

“The first thing is, I didn’t want to join an international team being a player who hasn’t won anything yet, you know? Not just regionally, but internationally.

If I joined a foreign organization or team like that, how would I have respect for them? You understand? So my performance would drop a lot, I’d probably get mad, and I wouldn’t win. So for me, a move like that only made sense in my career if I had won something with a Brazilian team first.”

The decision proved wise. Later in 2022, Sacy helped LOUD secure the VCT Champions title, cementing his status as a world-class player. This success led to an offer from North American giants Sentinels, where he contributed to their victory at Masters Madrid 2024.
