S8UL Esports Pursues Legal Action Against Moonton Over Disqualification

S8UL Esports player Ian “FwydChickn” Hohl has spoken out about Moonton’s controversial decision to disqualify his team from the upcoming MSC x EWC 2025 tournament in Saudi Arabia next week.

According to the official announcement, S8UL has been declared ineligible to compete in this year’s MSC and will be replaced by the NACT Spring 2025 runner-up, Area 77, due to partnership breach. While many fans and community members have condemned this decision, others have pointed to controversial actions by players Michael “MobaZane” Cosgun and Jang “Hoon” Seong-hun.

However, Fwyd clarified during his livestream that both players consulted with S8UL management before accepting a promotional campaign for Honor of Kings, while pointing out inconsistencies in Moonton’s rules.

“I do not blame Hoon or Zane, and neither should anyone. The campaign was planned a while back and when they planned it, they made sure in the MSC rulebook that it would be allowed. And after clear revision, initially, there was nothing that would seem to obstruct us from participating in MSC while they do the campaign.”

Fwyd added that the team has suffered significant time and financial losses due to this situation and plans to legally challenge Moonton’s decision. He credited North American mobile esports figure David “MaoMao” Mao for helping them with the legal assistance following the announcement.

Meanwhile, Zane and Hoon seem unfazed by this decision and carry on with their streams. The former even expressed his intention to switch to HoK esports and leave his professional MLBB career behind.
