Following recent controversy in the MLBB esports scene, Moonton has taken a firm stance against the whole S8UL Esports squad, who were supposed to fill a slot in the upcoming MSC x EWC 2025 tournament in Saudi Arabia.

Through its official social media, Moonton clarified that two S8UL members, Michael “MobaZane” Cosgun and Jang “Hoon” Seong-hun, were found to have violated their contracts by promoting a competitor game (Honor of Kings) recently.

“Jang ‘Hoon’ Seong-hun and Michael ‘MobaZane’ Cosgun from S8UL Esports, the representatives from North America, have been found in breach of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Mid Season Cup Official rules due to their decision to participate in an event associated with a competing MOBA title.”

The specific rule bars players from participating in events for other games during the MSC period, and some fans and S8UL management have objected in regard to this point. They argued that MobaZane and Hoon only promoted HOK through “Ranking Marathon 48-hour” special event during June 27-28, outside the restricted schedule, and therefore broke no rules.

Moonton also revealed that they have invited the Area 77 squad, the NACT Spring 2025 runners-up, to replace S8UL near the end of June. This leaves only the Wild Card stage to determine the final slot for MSC x EWC 2025.
