According to Sport Express, Denis ManturovRussian Deputy Prime Minister — has proposed organizing a friendly match between the Russian national team and the Indonesia national team.

The proposal remains in its early stages. No official date has been set, as both teams need to coordinate their respective international calendars.

Currently, the Indonesia national team is focused on the Third Round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers in the Asian zone. The Garuda squad still has two crucial matches left in Group C:

  • Against China on June 5, 2025

  • Facing Japan on June 10, 2025

The potential for this friendly match increases if Indonesia directly qualifies for the 2026 World Cup, as it would create additional windows for preparation matches.

Such an international friendly could strengthen diplomatic and football relations between the two nations while offering valuable match experience for both sides.
