Russell Leads Second Practice at Canadian GP, Norris Second

George Russell leads the second practice session of the Canadian GP with the best time on medium tires — narrowly ahead of McLaren’s Lando Norris who used soft tires.

The session was disrupted early when Lance Stroll suffered fatal damage to the front left of his car after touching the wall at Turn 7 — forcing the home driver to park his car at the hairpin.

Andrea Kimi Antonelli, Russell’s teammate, secured third position followed by Williams’ Alex Albon who showed promising performance at a circuit that suits their car characteristics. Fernando Alonso completed the top five with Aston Martin.

Championship leader Oscar Piastri could only manage sixth, while defending champion Max Verstappen, who struggled with braking and car handling, climbed to ninth in the final minutes. Charles Leclerc missed this session due to chassis damage after a crash in first practice.

“The car feels more nervous than in first practice,” Verstappen commented about his subpar performance.

Racing Bulls drivers Liam Lawson and Isack Hadjar rounded out the top positions — both experiencing traffic issues throughout the Gilles Villeneuve Circuit.
