Ruben AmorimManchester United’s newly appointed manager last November — has outlined his plans to strengthen the club’s midfield with players who possess greater pace and physical strength.

This season has been Manchester United’s worst in five decades — the club risks finishing 17th, just one spot above the relegation zone. A defeat in the Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur also confirms that United will miss out on European competition next season.

Despite losing an estimated £100 million in potential Champions League revenue, United remains committed to supporting Amorim’s transfer plans. The club is close to finalizing the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves for £62.5 million, and is targeting Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap, who has a £30 million release clause.

The main issue Amorim wants to fix is the team’s poor scoring record — just 42 goals in 37 league matches. The Portuguese coach sees a lack of mobility and athleticism in midfield as a key problem that must be addressed to compete in the Premier League.
