RRQ Valorant Reverse Sweeps Gen.G to Claim VCT Pacific 2025 Title

RRQ Valorant claimed their first prestigious international title in the Valorant competitive circuit by defeating Gen.G in the Grand Final of VCT Pacific 2025: Stage 1, held last Sunday night (11/5).

Throughout the tournament, RRQ defied expectations. Many viewers and professionals doubted their roster, considering it less experienced than rival teams. However, RRQ showcased remarkable resilience and competitive grit. Meanwhile, Gen.G entered as favorites due to their proven track record in high-stakes matches and superior statistical performance.

Gen.G’s dominance seemed assured after decisively defeating RRQ in the Upper Bracket Final on Saturday (10/5). Yet, the Indonesian underdogs refused to back down. Fueled by determination, RRQ stormed back through the Lower Bracket Final, edging out second-favorite Paper Rex in a thrilling 3-2 showdown to secure their Grand Final rematch.

A fierce comeback

The Grand Final opened with a high-intensity clash on Haven. Gen.G dominated the first half and stifled RRQ’s efforts in the second, closing Map 1 with a confident 13-8 victory.

Gen.G’s strong start, however, only galvanized RRQ. Over the next three maps, RRQ seized control, dictating the pace and dominating critical moments. Ascent, Lotus, and Icebox became stages for RRQ’s mental fortitude and mechanical brilliance as Maksim “Jemkin” Batorov and Cahya “Monyet” Nugraha carried out with impressive plays under pressure, repeatedly turning tense situations in their favor and delivering standout performances for their fans.

The 3-1 reverse sweep marked a triumphant revenge against Gen.G and etched RRQ into history as the first Indonesian team to win the Pacific championship. As it stands, RRQ now emerges as a dark horse to watch at the upcoming Masters Toronto.
