The RRQ Valorant team has officially secured first place in Group Omega after completing its final group match versus Team Secret in the final group stage of VCT Pacific 2025: Stage 1 yesterday (22/04). However, their coach said he was unsatisfied with the result.

The match ultimately had no bearing on RRQ’s result, as they had already qualified for the upper bracket playoffs. But for Secret, this was a battle for pride. The Filipino pride entered the match 0-4 and hungry to salvage dignity.

As expected, the Adobo Gang erupted with grit after a heartbreak 13-15 loss on Ascent, flipping the script on Haven and Lotus with clinical precision. Their 2-1 series win gifted them a bittersweet 1-4 group finish — a small consolation for a team exiting the tournament, but a glaring wake-up call for RRQ.

Despite retaining their top spot in the group, RRQ’s head coach Marthinus “Ewok” van Der Walt has expressed concerns, citing critical macro-level errors during the match.

“There’s a lot of things that were wrong. We weren’t using ultimates, we weren’t playing for retake, our map control was poor, we weren’t staying under the first line, we were trying to gamble stack too fast. Just so many macro issues in terms of what we did differently for some reason,” via VCT Pacific.

Ewok’s concerns echoed those of RRQ’s loyal supporters watching the match. Compared to their fellow, Boom Esports—who topped Group Alpha more convincingly—RRQ’s vulnerabilities under pressure could leave them exposed in high-stakes scenarios against experienced opponents.

RRQ will begin their VCT Pacific 2025 playoff campaign in the semifinals in five days. They will have to wait for the outcome of the quarterfinal match between DRX and T1 to determine their opponent for that date.
