RRQ Sweeps Area 77 in Dominant MSC 2025 Group B Opener

RRQ Hoshi started their MSC 2025 campaign predictably strong after taking down Area 77 2-0 in their Group B opening match.

While the pace slowed in parts of both games, RRQ’s disciplined strategy and map control left no doubt about their superiority over A77. They secured the series win in under 30 minutes total.

Also, viewers didn’t have high expectations for A77, who entered the tournament as a last-minute replacement for the disqualified S8UL Esports. Without Tier S competitive experience, it’s obvious they were underdogs against a powerhouse like RRQ.

No surprise

Game 1 saw both teams play cautiously throughout the early and mid-game phases, avoiding major confrontations. The situation changed rapidly in the late game when RRQ applied intense pressure, trapping all A77 players in their base and ending the match in under 15 minutes.

Instead of focusing on kills, both teams prioritised objective control and setting their own tempo. This strategy ultimately favored RRQ, who amassed a staggering 10,000 gold lead within the first 10 minutes. Their star player, Muhammad “Toyy” Rizky, shone brightly after completing his core items.

Game 2 proved highly predictable, lacking unique draft compositions or any significant early-game surprises. RRQ played aggressively from the start to maintain control. While A77 managed to steal the second Lord, RRQ immediately replied and forced them into retreat.

Toyy again delivered another standout performance, eliminating key A77 players and effectively dismantling their defenses. Ultimately, RRQ faced little difficulty closing out the late game, overwhelming their opponents in their own base to secure victory at 15 minutes and 27 seconds.

This victory propels them to the Upper Bracket Final of Group B, where they will face the tournament’s dark horse, Aurora Turkey. Aurora recently survived a fierce challenge from Onic PH to claim a dramatic victory. The two teams clash this Saturday afternoon (26/07).
