Reigning Champions RRQ Stumbles in Pacific Stage 2 Opener

The reigning VCT Pacific 2025 champions, RRQ, are under fire after a very disappointing performance in their Stage 2 opener this evening.

Against Global Esports, a team often struggling in the Pacific circuit, RRQ played far below expectations. Their ineffective gameplay led to huge losses on both maps: 5-13 on Haven and 7-13 on Corrode.

Fans then pointed fingers at several players and quickly turning them into memes across the Southeast Asian Valorant community. Many of their supporters also suspect the team was underprepared, making their opponents look unusually strong.

In post-match interviews, RRQ members and head coach Marthinus “Ewok” Van Der Walt confirmed they lacked in-depth research on their opponents and hadn’t fully adapted to Stage 2’s new map rotations. Despite this, they remain optimistic about fixing these early issues and bounce back to the top.

This loss places RRQ at the bottom of Group Alpha’s standings, closely trailing DRX who also started without a win. Their next challenge will be a tall order, though, as they are set to face a highly motivated Gen.G squad soon.
