Southeast Asian esports giant RRQ has expressed interest in expanding to the MPL Malaysia competition, as they already sneaked a peek into major changes that rumored for MPL MY’s 17th season in 2026.

During a recent livestream, RRQ CEO Andrian “AP” Pauline stated they’ve been monitoring MPL MY’s progress and are interested in the league’s rumored roadmap towards a franchise system.

AP couldn’t share specific details about RRQ’s potential involvement yet. However, he confirmed plans would only take effect in 2026 and teased Malaysia’s top players to consider joining RRQ when the time comes.

“So guys, MPL MY will likely share their plans next week. If they do open franchising, I think it will be for the 2026 season, not now. That’s something we would seriously consider.

“Malaysian players should be ready. And you, Malaysian fans, too!”

Rumors of MPL MY moving to a franchise system aren’t new, though, as many Malaysian pros already discussed this possibility ahead of Season 15. The league has been preparing step-by-step, starting with the introduction of a ticket system this season.
