Roy King Yap decides to focus on Malaysian men’s doubles

Malaysian badminton player Roy King Yap has made the decision to focus on men’s doubles with Junaidi Arif — leaving behind his role in mixed doubles.

The 24-year-old athlete previously competed in two different events, including mixed doubles with Valeree Siow. In men’s doubles, Yap trains under the guidance of senior Indonesian coach Herry Iman Pierngadi.

BAM’s Doubles Coaching Director, Rexy Mainaky, has given the green light for this decision.

“This reason is logical. If forced to continue, Roy King would waste energy unnecessarily having to constantly cover for his partner who hasn’t fully recovered,” Rexy Mainaky told Harian Metro.
