Ronaldo Extends Al Nassr Contract, Focuses on 2026 World Cup

Cristiano Ronaldo has just extended his contract with Saudi Pro League club Al Nassr until 2027 — a decision that will see him play until the age of 42.

The Portuguese superstar revealed that he declined several offers to play in this season’s Club World Cup. “I chose to rest and prepare well because this season will be very long, especially with the World Cup at the end of the season,” Ronaldo stated in a video posted by Al Nassr on Instagram.

This decision comes after Ronaldo helped Portugal win the UEFA Nations League by defeating Spain in a penalty shootout earlier this month. His latest achievement in Qatar — becoming the first male player to score in five different World Cups — fuels his ambition to appear in the 2026 World Cup.

Alongside his rival Lionel Messi, Ronaldo has the opportunity to make history as the first players to appear in six World Cup editions when the tournament takes place in the United States, Canada, and Mexico next year.
