Roger Penske chases first Le Mans victory at age 88

According to Motorsport.com, Roger Penske — the legendary 88-year-old team owner — is ready to face the 2025 Le Mans challenge with three Porsche 963 cars.

Porsche Penske Motorsport has shown impressive performance — claiming victories at both Rolex 24 Daytona and 12 Hours of Sebring this year. Nick Tandy and Felipe Nasr have become an unstoppable duo in the IMSA series.

Penske’s Le Mans history began 62 years ago as a Ferrari 330 driver, but ended prematurely due to mechanical issues. His second attempt in 1971 with Mark Donohue and David Hobbs also resulted in retirement.

The team will field three cars with skilled driver combinations:

  • Car #5: Julien Andlauer, Michael Christensen, and Mathieu Jaminet
  • Car #6: Kevin Estre, Laurens Vanthoor, and Matt Campbell
  • Car #4: Nick Tandy, Felipe Nasr, and Formula E champion Pascal Wehrlein

“If the stars align, the stars align,” Tandy told Motorsport.com before departing for France.
