Robert Kubica claims Le Mans 24 Hours victory despite transmission issues

Robert Kubica alongside teammates Phil Hanson and Yifei Ye secured victory at Le Mans 24 Hours in the AF Corse Ferrari 499P LMH — an achievement accomplished amid various technical challenges.

Persistent transmission issues plagued the team throughout the race — forcing drivers to adapt their driving style to manage the situation.

“The problem was there for all 24 hours. We tried to help by modifying driving style and brake settings, but in the end it was just covering the issue, not solving it,” stated Kubica.

The 40-year-old driver piloted the yellow Ferrari in the final stint for over three and a half hours — an impressive feat considering he had been awake for 35 hours.

This victory holds special meaning for Kubica who nearly won on his Le Mans debut four years ago — when his car suffered throttle sensor issues on the final lap while leading the race.
