Rizky Ridho, one of the main pillars of the Indonesian national team’s defense, has been hit with an injury ahead of a decisive clash against Japan in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers (Asian Zone).

The information was shared via Kita Garuda, revealing that the 22-year-old suffered a hamstring injury during an official training session at Suita City Stadium.

National team confirms injury during official training

“Indonesian National Team defender, Rizky Ridho, experienced complaints with his leg’s hamstring muscle during official training ahead of the final match of the third round of 2026 World Cup Qualification Asia Group C,” Kita Garuda stated in an official update.

The training session was part of the squad’s final preparations before taking on Japan, a team widely regarded as one of Asia’s strongest sides.

A big blow ahead of a high-stakes match

The timing of Rizky Ridho’s injury is a major concern for Coach Shin Tae-yong, who is already facing a tough challenge against the Samurai Blue in the final Group C fixture.

The match, scheduled to take place at Suita City Stadium, could determine Indonesia’s chances of progressing to the next round of the qualifiers.

With Ridho potentially sidelined, the Garuda squad must find a quick replacement to reinforce their backline ahead of this crucial showdown.
