Rico Lewis receives additional FIFA ban at Club World Cup

According to FIFA’s decision, Manchester City defender Rico Lewis has received additional punishment at the 2025 Club World Cup following his red card incident.

The 20-year-old player was already absent when The Citizens faced Al Ain in their second Group G match — despite his team securing a 2-0 victory over Wydad AC in the previous game.

Lewis received a straight red card in the 88th minute during a challenge with Wydad AC player Samuel Obeng — his dangerous tackle to the opponent’s chest left the referee with no choice but to send him off.
