Rexy Mainaky Warns Malaysian Doubles Athletes Against Complacency

Rexy Mainaky, Doubles Coaching Director of the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM), has issued a warning to his athletes — not to become complacent with their success in the first half of 2025.

Malaysia’s men’s doubles sector has undergone a significant transformation under Indonesian senior coach Herry Iman Pierngadi — with two key pairs consistently performing at the highest level.

The pairs of Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik and Man Wei Chong/Tee Kai Wun have become Malaysia’s success drivers — recording impressive achievements in a series of BWF World Tour tournaments in Southeast Asia.

The outstanding achievements of both pairs include titles at:

  • Thailand Open 2025 – Chia/Soh
  • Singapore Open 2025 – Chia/Soh
  • Malaysia Masters 2025 – Man/Tee
  • Asian Championships 2025 – gold medal
  • Indonesia Masters 2025

At the Indonesia Open, Man/Tee advanced to the semifinals before being stopped by Indonesian representatives, Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani in a three-game battle.
