Rexy Mainaky Sets High Expectations for World Championships in Paris

JAKARTA, July 4, 2025 — Rexy Mainaky, Director of Doubles Coaching at the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM), has set ambitious targets for Malaysia’s top doubles pairs ahead of the 2025 BWF World Championships in Paris.

With the prestigious tournament set to take place at the Adidas Arena in late August 2025, Rexy believes that the Malaysian contingent—particularly the men’s doubles—has shown strong momentum and is well-prepared after months of intensive training.

Under the guidance of legendary coach Herry Iman Pierngadi, Malaysia’s top men’s pair Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik has been in exceptional form this season. The duo has claimed three major titles:

  • 2025 Asian Championships

  • Thailand Open 2025

  • Singapore Open 2025

Adding to Malaysia’s confidence, the pair Man Wei Chong/Tee Kai Wun thrilled local fans by capturing the Malaysia Masters 2025 title on home soil—highlighting the squad’s growing depth and consistency.

Rexy sees the upcoming World Championships as the ultimate test of the players’ progress over the past five months. He emphasized that Malaysia is not just aiming to participate, but to contend for the podium in both men’s and mixed doubles categories.
