Rehan/Gloria start Japan Open 2025 with dramatic victory

Indonesian mixed doubles pair Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja started their Japan Open 2025 campaign with a victory over Taiwan’s Yang Po-Hsuan/Hu Ling Fang at Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium on Tuesday (15/7).

The first-round match concluded with a score of 22-20, 21-15 — despite the Indonesian pair initially trailing significantly in the first game.

The Polish Open champions faced a challenging situation when falling behind 2-9, but managed to turn the tide by securing eight consecutive points to lead 10-9.

Though they missed their first match point at 20-19, Rehan/Gloria finally closed the first game through a fast flat shot that Yang Po-Hsuan couldn’t return.
