Rehan/Gloria Fail to Advance to Singapore Open 2025 Quarterfinals

According to Bolasport.com, the Indonesian mixed doubles pair, Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja — bowed out of the Singapore Open 2025 after a straight-game loss to China’s fourth seeds — Guo Xin Wa/Chen Fang Hui, on Thursday, 29 May.

The match, held at Singapore Indoor Stadium, marked the end of the road for the independent duo representing PB Djarum, dashing their hopes of making a deep run in the BWF Super 750 tournament.

Guo/Chen Break Losing Streak Against Indonesian Pairs

This victory came as a relief for the Chinese pair, who had previously been knocked out by Indonesian representatives in back-to-back tournaments:

  • Lost to Amri Syahnawi/Nita Violina Marwah at the Thailand Open 2025

  • Defeated by Dejan Ferdinansyah/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti at the Malaysia Masters 2025

With this win, Guo/Chen not only secured a spot in the quarterfinals but also regained momentum on the BWF World Tour.

Strong Start, But Rehan/Gloria Lose Focus

Rehan/Gloria began the match on a positive note, leading 3–1 and extending it to 5–2 in the opening game. They maintained the lead at 8–6, but a sudden dip in focus and increasingly predictable shot selection allowed the Chinese pair to take control of the game.

Once they lost their rhythm, the Indonesian pair found it difficult to counter Guo/Chen’s aggressive play and fast tempo.

The defeat is a setback for Rehan/Gloria, who have been working to rebuild chemistry and consistency on the international stage.
