Yeum Hye-seon, captain of Daejeon JungKwanJang Red Sparks — will undergo knee surgery on April 28 following issues with her right knee cartilage.

“I will undergo surgery on April 28. There is cartilage damage in my right knee. It’s just a matter of making a hole and cleaning it. I think this is preparation to play volleyball longer,” Yeum told TheSpike.

The 34-year-old setter admitted that the pain had emerged since the first round of Korean Volleyball League 2024-2025 — but conditions worsened when entering the sixth round.

“The pain appeared in the first round, so I took painkillers and drained fluid from my knee. After the sixth round began, my knee started swelling. I thought it was just fatigue, but in the first playoff match, the pain came out of nowhere — making me frustrated and upset.”
