Yeum Hye-seon, captain of the Daejeon JungKwanJang Red Sparks, has spoken out about the team’s situation following the departure of two key players — Megawati Hangestri Pertiwi and Vanja Bukilic — as reported by News1.

Red Sparks Face Uncertainty After Historic Season

The Red Sparks made headlines in the 2024–2025 Korean Volleyball League by reaching the finals for the first time in 13 years. However, their momentum has been disrupted after both Megawati and Bukilic opted not to renew their contracts, casting uncertainty over the team’s future.

Captain Praises Megawati and Bukilic’s Contributions

“Mega is a player with skills that can be counted on one hand among all attackers I’ve played with. She’s not only skilled, but her personality is also excellent, making her a perfect fit for the team,” said Yeum Hye-seon.

Optimism Remains Despite Challenges Ahead

Despite widespread concern over the team’s prospects, Yeum remains hopeful about the upcoming season.

“Last season, there were many negative views about Bukilic’s position change to outside hitter, but it worked out well. I think next season will be the same, and our team can create another magical season,” she added.

The Red Sparks now face the challenge of rebuilding while maintaining the chemistry that drove their success last season.
