Red Bull F1 team experienced a difficult weekend at Bahrain International Circuit, with their lead driver Max Verstappen only managing to finish sixth — half a minute behind the race winner.

Complex technical issues — including brake system problems, unstable car handling, and pit stop equipment malfunctions — left the defending champion team struggling to show their best performance.

AlphaTauri driver Yuki Tsunoda even managed to finish just three positions behind Verstappen.

Team principal Christian Horner immediately held a meeting with senior technical staff, including technical director Pierre Wache and chief engineer Paul Monaghan, to analyze the problems. Horner acknowledged that the team’s simulations weren’t matching real-world conditions:

“The solutions we see in our simulation tools aren’t correlating with what we’re seeing on track at the moment. It’s like telling time on two different watches.”

The situation is further complicated by testing and development restrictions in the budget cap era. The team cannot simply try various solutions due to limited wind tunnel testing time and CFD simulation allowance.

These issues emerge shortly after Adrian Newey’s departure from the team, forcing Red Bull to work extra hard to maintain their Formula 1 dominance.
