Real Madrid wonderkid leads River Plate to victory in FIFA Club World Cup 2025

Franco Mastantuono — Real Madrid’s wonderkid still playing for River Plate — completed full 90 minutes as his team defeated Urawa Reds 3-1 in Group E of FIFA Club World Cup 2025 at Lumen Field Stadium.

The 17-year-old player who was purchased by Real Madrid for 45 million euros — set to join Los Blancos in August — failed to record any goals or assists in this match.

River Plate overcame the Japanese side through goals scored by:

  • Facundo Colidio (12′)
  • Sebastian Driussi (48′)
  • Maximiliano Meza (73′)

Urawa Reds only managed to respond through Yasuke Matsuo’s penalty kick in the 58th minute.

In another match at Rose Bowl Stadium, Sergio Ramos put Monterrey ahead with a header in the 25th minute — but Lautaro Martinez equalized for Inter Milan before the first half ended.

This result places River Plate at the top of Group E standings in FIFA Club World Cup 2025.
