Real Madrid Backs Out of Plan to Sign Ballon d’Or Winner from Manchester City

Real Madrid has taken a step back in their pursuit of Manchester City midfielder Rodri — last year’s Ballon d’Or winner.

Los Blancos are seeking midfield reinforcements following the departure of two key players — Toni Kroos who retired last year and Luka Modric who just ended his contract this summer.

Kroos’s absence has significantly impacted Madrid — Carlo Ancelotti’s team failed to secure any titles last season. Rodri, who has two years remaining on his City contract, was initially a primary target to fill this void.

Despite the 29-year-old midfielder’s profile being deemed suitable for Madrid’s playing style, the Spanish capital club has now decided to abandon their plans to bring the player to Santiago Bernabeu.
