Real Madrid Advances to Quarter-finals, Courtois’s Hope to Meet Ramos Dashed

Thibaut Courtois and Real Madrid advanced to the 2025 Club World Cup quarter-finals after defeating Juventus 1-0 in Miami Gardens.

A lone goal from Gonzalo Garcia — which proved decisive for Los Blancos — secured the Madrid team’s progression to the next round.

However, the Belgian goalkeeper’s desire to meet his former teammate was unfulfilled — Sergio Ramos failed to guide Monterrey to the quarter-finals following a 1-2 loss to Borussia Dortmund.

“If we could meet Sergio, that would be really nice. We know less about them (Monterrey) compared to Dortmund, but every match is difficult and we must respect our opponents,” said Courtois before the Juventus match.
