Marcus Rashford, currently on loan at Aston Villa from Manchester United, is reportedly seeking a move to a Champions League club as he plans his next career step.

Villa have an option to buy the forward for around £40 million, but they have yet to decide whether to trigger it — largely due to Rashford’s £350,000-per-week wages, which may strain the club’s financial strategy.

Villa’s hopes of securing European football took a hit after their 2-1 loss to Manchester City, leaving them seventh in the Premier League, two points behind fifth-place Newcastle with four matches remaining.

Rashford still has three years left on his United contract, and if no deal is reached, he is expected to return to Carrington in July for pre-season training.

Under new manager Ruben Amorim, Rashford has seen limited opportunities — echoing the situation of Jadon Sancho last season, who returned to United before eventually joining Chelsea on deadline day.
