Rangers to Face Panathinaikos in Champions League Qualifying

Rangers FC have been drawn to face Greek side Panathinaikos in the second round of Champions League qualifying. The tie will be contested over two legs — the first leg is scheduled at Ibrox in July, while the return leg will take place at the Athens Olympic Stadium a week later.

The Scottish club — now under new manager Russell Martin — aims to reach the Champions League group stage after last season’s elimination in the third qualifying round by Dynamo Kyiv.

Major changes have occurred at Rangers this season — the club has been taken over by an American consortium led by San Francisco 49ers owners and healthcare entrepreneur Andrew Cavenagh.

Rangers haven’t claimed the Scottish league title since four years ago, while their rivals Celtic have dominated by winning 13 titles in the last 14 seasons.
