The football world is once again abuzz with speculation following the passing of Pope Francis, which coincided with Aaron Ramsey’s debut as interim manager of Cardiff City.

The Pope passed away on Monday morning at his residence in Domus Sanctae Marthae, Rome, after experiencing declining health in recent months.

Some football fans on social media have linked the Pope’s passing to the infamous “Ramsey Curse” — an internet-fueled belief that whenever Aaron Ramsey, the former Wales international, scores or achieves something notable, a prominent public figure passes away shortly after.

Although Ramsey didn’t score this time, his managerial debut for Cardiff City — in a match against Oxford United, which features Indonesian national team striker Ole Romeny — occurred on the same day as Pope Francis’ passing.

The theory, while widely circulated online, remains a coincidence without scientific backing.
