Ram Plans NASCAR Cup Series Return in 2027

Tim Kuniskis, Ram CEO and former Dodge CEO under Stellantis, revealed the company’s ambitions to return to NASCAR Cup Series — with 2027 set as the target year.

“Getting into Truck Series is much easier than Cup Series. It takes longer to get into Cup. Our target is to enter Cup a year after Truck Series. Many say we’re crazy, but we have some legacy elements that might speed up development time,” said Kuniskis.

While experts recommend at least two years of preparation for Cup Series, Kuniskis remains optimistic about a shorter timeline. John Probst, NASCAR executive vice president, states that minimum preparation time for Cup Series entry is around 18 months.

Ram hasn’t announced complete details of their 2026 plans, including associated teams and drivers. Previously, Dodge left Cup Series in 2012 — right after securing the championship with Brad Keselowski and Team Penske.
