Ralf Schumacher: Verstappen to announce his future after summer break

According to Formel1.de, former Formula 1 driver Ralf Schumacher has shared his prediction about Max Verstappen’s future at Red Bull Racing — an important announcement is expected after the summer break.

This speculation emerges after Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff confirmed his talks with the four-time world champion, although chances of moving to the Brackley team in 2026 are considered low.

According to Schumacher, the sudden departure of Red Bull CEO Christian Horner could influence Verstappen’s decision. “The problem is — I find it difficult to imagine how Pierre Wache could suddenly build a genuinely fast car without Adrian Newey’s expertise,” he explained.

“If he stays, I don’t think it will be just for 2026 — he would stay longer. Otherwise, I believe he will announce a move this year after the summer break,” said Schumacher.

Schumacher also revealed indications of a meeting between Wolff and Verstappen in Sardinia — both were seen sailing yachts in the same location. However, he emphasized that Verstappen won’t make a hasty decision, considering Red Bull’s significant role in his career.
