Racing Bulls has shown great potential at the start of the 2025 Formula 1 season with impressive qualifying performances—the team consistently leads the midfield group.

Yuki Tsunoda and Isack Hadjar secured promising starting positions in the last two races, but the team failed to convert these opportunities into points due to strategy errors.

At the Australian GP, Tsunoda lost a potential podium position due to a delayed pit stop decision in changing weather conditions:

“The situation was clear that we needed to box. We reacted too late,” Tsunoda stated.

Team principal Laurent Mekies acknowledged this mistake:

“We got the last call badly wrong. There is no bad luck in this game.”

At the Chinese GP, the team made another error by implementing a two-stop strategy—different from the majority of teams, who only made one pit stop. As a result, both drivers dropped to the back positions.

  • Tsunoda fell from 8th to 15th position

  • Hadjar dropped from 9th to 16th position

With 22 races remaining, Racing Bulls now trails Williams by 14 points for fourth place in the constructors’ standings. The Faenza-based team must quickly improve its strategic decision-making to maximize the potential of its competitive car.
