Quartararo Faces Serious Issues with Yamaha Bike at Aragon Circuit

Fabio Quartararo endured a difficult day during the practice sessions at the Aragon Circuit, as his Yamaha YZR-M1 experienced major grip issues in nearly every corner. The French rider struggled to find stability and performance throughout the session.

Yamaha Trails in Speed and Stability

The Yamaha’s performance was well below par, recording the slowest top speed, trailing nearly 10 km/h behind Brad Binder’s KTM. Quartararo’s frustration was evident as he spoke to the media.

“We almost made pole position—on the opposite side of the grid,” Quartararo joked.

“It was a really tough day, especially with the soft tire. We don’t understand what’s going on with the electronics and other things.”

Team Confirms Problems Across Riders

Yamaha team director, Massimo Meregalli, acknowledged that both Quartararo and teammate Alex Rins were affected by similar technical setbacks. Rins and Quartararo finished 15th and 18th respectively in the session.

Key Issues Identified:

  • Severe rear grip loss

  • Repeated loss of control

  • Temperature sensitivity affecting tire performance

With the next race approaching, Yamaha engineers are now under pressure to analyze the data and find a solution to their soft compound tire and electronic performance issues.
