PV Sindhu Shocked in First Round of Malaysia Masters

Pusarla Venkata Sindhu suffered a shocking first-round exit at the 2025 Malaysia Masters, held at the Axiata Arena Stadium in Kuala Lumpur.

The world No. 16 women’s singles player from India was defeated by Nguyen Thuy Linh of Vietnam with a scoreline of 11-21, 21-14, 15-21 in a match that lasted 64 minutes.

The loss was unexpected, as Nguyen is ranked 10 places below Sindhu at No. 26 in the world.

This match also evened their head-to-head record to 2-2, with Sindhu previously leading in their previous encounters.

The 2019 World Champion struggled from the beginning — trailing early and failing to regain momentum throughout the match.
