Putri KW still unable to find formula to defeat Wang Zhi Yi at Japan Open

Indonesian women’s singles shuttler Putri Kusuma Wardani failed to break her deadlock against two-time Asian champion Wang Zhi Yi in the Japan Open 2025 quarter-finals at Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium.

An intense battle unfolded from the start of the first game — both players traded points until reaching 10-10. After the interval, Putri KW held a slim 11-4 lead before Wang leveled the score at 16-16.

Despite falling behind 16-18, Putri KW managed to force a setting and cleverly claimed the opening game. However, this advantage wasn’t enough to secure a semifinal spot — their head-to-head record now stands at 0-4 in favor of the Chinese representative.
