Putri KW Reveals Secret Behind Brilliant Performance at Sudirman Cup 2025

Putri Kusuma Wardani, also known as Putri KW, shared the secret behind her remarkable performance at the Sudirman Cup 2025, despite Indonesia ultimately settling for a bronze medal.

Sudden Change of Roles Due to Injury

A sudden twist occurred when Gregoria Mariska Tunjung was unable to compete due to vertigo, forcing Putri KW to step up from her usual second singles position to first singles. Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo then filled in the second position, marking a shift in the team’s dynamics.

Putri KW’s Contribution and Mentality

Despite the unexpected change, the 22-year-old shuttler delivered crucial points in each of her matches. Her only loss came against An Se-young from South Korea in the semifinals.

“There was definitely tension because I wasn’t playing in my usual position,” Putri KW admitted.

“From that tension, I just played with nothing to lose and wanted to prove myself,” she added, speaking at the Cipayung National Training Center.

Coach’s Advice Helps Maintain Calm

Putri KW also shared her mental approach:

“If I get too tense, I lose and don’t get points. So, I stayed relaxed despite the tension. The coach’s reminder helped me play more enjoyably.”
