Putri KW Falls Short in Indonesia Open 2025 Quarterfinal

Putri Kusuma Wardani — the only representative from Indonesia in the women’s singles at the Indonesia Open 2025 — ended her campaign in the quarterfinals after losing to Japan’s Akane Yamaguchi at Istora Senayan, Jakarta.

The 51-minute battle ended with a score of 19-21, 20-22 in favor of Yamaguchi, the world’s number three player who dominated throughout the match.

Despite a valiant effort with three lead changes, Putri KW — currently ranked 12th in the world — could not maintain her momentum after a series of unforced errors allowed her opponent to win six consecutive points.

The first game interval ended with a score of 8-11, and after the break, the Indonesian player struggled to break free from the pressure imposed by the former world number one.
